1968: NROTC Annex burns
Stanford's Naval ROTC Annex goes up in flames in the early morning of May 7, 1968. The Annex, which at the time was being reconstructed after an earlier, less severe burn, was razed and never rebuilt. Soon after, the Faculty Senate voted to remove academic credit from ROTC courses; all programs had departed by 1973. (Stanford Daily File Photo)
