Thousands of Stanford family members are expected to arrive on campus Friday for the annual Parents’ Weekend, University event planners said this week.

Advanced registration numbers show 3,300 people from about 1,500 families are set to attend the two-day showcase.

Sponsored by the offices of University President John Hennessy and Provost John Etchemendy, Parents’ Weekend marks efforts from all corners of campus — freshman dorms, dining halls and classrooms — to show Stanford families the best of where their children, and their dollars, go.

Professors Norman Naimark and Clifford Nass and technology ventures expert Tina Seelig are set to lecture during the weekend. Hennessy will answer parents’ questions on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium.

Talisman, Wushu, the Mendicants, Swingtime and Mariachi Cardenal are set to perform on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students and children; proceeds are to benefit the Parents’ Club Scholarship Endowment Fund.
