Redshirt sophomore quarterback Andrew Luck will return to the Cardinal football team for the 2011 season, Stanford announced Thursday. Luck, who is seen as one of the preeminent quarterback prospects of the past three decades, was the presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

“I am committed to earning my degree in architectural design from Stanford University and am on track to accomplish this at the completion of the spring quarter of 2012,” Luck said.

Luck, the MVP of the 2011 Orange Bowl, was the Heisman Trophy runner up this season. He finished his sophomore campaign with 3,338 yards passing and 32 touchdowns against just eight interceptions.
