Car catches fire outside Casa Italiana
(JOSHUA FALK/The Stanford Daily) Julian Jennings-White '10, whose parked car erupted into a small flame near the passenger compartment, said the cause of the fire is unclear as his car has been well-maintained.

A car fire erupted behind Casa Italiana on Thursday around 10 p.m. before firefighters arrived and extinguished it. No injuries were reported.

The fire started under the hood of the car, according to Deputy John Fong of the Stanford Department of Public Safety.

The fire’s cause remains unclear. The car’s owner, Julian Jennings-White ‘10, had just parked his car when he noticed smoke and saw a small flame near the passenger compartment. He also saw some dripping liquid that was on fire inside the car, he said.

“There was smoke coming out of the hood,” Jennings-White said. “The fire just kept getting bigger and bigger.”

Jennings-White said the car had been well maintained.

Stewart Macgregor-Dennis ‘13, who witnessed the fire, praised the emergency responders’ swiftness.

“They showed up really fast,” Macgregor-Dennis said. “I’m impressed by the security services we have.”
