A representative for the University’s ad hoc committee on ROTC will appear at the ASSU Undergraduate Senate meeting on Tuesday evening.
The committee has been soliciting input from faculty, staff and students on the issue of ROTC’s possible return to campus. This fall, it invited community members to submit letters on the issue; in January, it hosted a town hall and a faculty-staff meeting to discuss the program, which left campus in the early 1970s.
The Faculty Senate formed the ad hoc committee in March 2010 to study the possible return of the program.
The Undergraduate Senate’s Tuesday agenda is set to include a one-hour presentation and discussion on ROTC with committee member and Freeman Spogli Institute staff member Ingrid Deiwiks. The committee is expected to report to the Faculty Senate in May.
The Undergraduate Senate meeting is today at 7 p.m. in Nitery 209 and is open to all faculty, staff and students.
