This report covers a selection of incidents from Feb. 17 to Feb. 24 as recorded in the Stanford Department of Public Safety bulletin.
It was a busy week for thieves who attempted to, with varying degrees of success, steal books, bikes and park benches across the campus.
Thursday, Feb. 17
Between 7:40 a.m. and 2:55 p.m., a park bench likely became some freshman’s extremely uncomfortable futon after it was stolen from the east side of Wilbur Hall between Junipero and Cedro.
Between 9:20 and 9:45 a.m., an unlocked bike was stolen outside of Durand.
Between 10 p.m. on Feb. 16 and 3 p.m. on Feb. 17, a U-locked bike was stolen from the front of Casa Italiana.
At 4:15 p.m., an unlocked bike was stolen from the front door at Encina Hall West.
Friday, Feb. 18
At 9:30 a.m., a victim reported feeling concerned for her own safety after receiving messages from a former boyfriend saying he was at her home or her workplace.
At 2 p.m., a man was cited and released for being in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana–any higher and he would’ve been in even more trouble.
Between 6 p.m. and 7:49 p.m., unknown suspects attempted to steal two Apple monitors and an Apple computer server from the Knoll at 660 Lomita Court. The PCs, however, were left alone–they lagged too far behind.
Sunday, Feb. 20
At 1:40 a.m., someone broke a window in the front of the Knoll, officially making it the week’s least popular building on campus.
At 2:04 a.m., a man at Nixon Elementary School was transported to the San Jose Main Jail and booked for driving under the influence.
Monday, Feb. 21
At 10:23 a.m., a woman was cited and released for driving unlicensed at Olmsted Road and Wells Court.
Tuesday, Feb. 22
At 10:10 a.m., an abandoned vehicle parked at Lot 63 at Campus Drive East and Escondido Road was towed.
At 4:42 p.m., a man who thought he was at the library was cited and released for shoplifting at the bookstore. No free books there, buddy.
At 7:15 p.m., a victim was injured in a vehicle vs. bike collision at the intersection of Junipero Serra Road and Campus Drive West.
At 9 p.m., an unknown suspect entered a room at the Lorry Lokey Stem Cell Research Building and stole a laptop computer.
