Fire Fight | The Palo Alto Fire Department is requesting mediation with the City of Palo Alto after their contract proposal was rejected by the city council. Read more about the negotiations here.

Virtual Dissection | Students at the School of Medicine are using virtual cadavers featuring life-sized, three-dimensional models of the human body. The technology will not serve as a replacement for real cadaver dissection but will act as a complement to the instruction.

Shoot First | A new camera, developed from the Ph.D. work of Ren Ng Ph.D. ’06, allows photographers to shoot first and focus later. The technology uses a special sensor called a microlens array, which puts the equivalent of several lenses in the space of one.
