I WANT TO BELIEVE

Oct. 8, 2014, 6:23 p.m.

On Monday, Oct. 6, The Daily received the following email from one concerned party:

Dear Sir/Madam:
I know the Editorial Dept. isn’t the right place to send this, but I don’t see any other likely email on your Web site.
I was visiting the Stanford campus last Thursday, and snapped this photo:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Photo credit: Our perceptive emailer. Email us if you want credit by name.

I didn’t see the object at the time; I only saw it two days later when I offloaded images from my camera.
I’m curious if anyone else saw or photographed it. I hope you’ll let me know if so.

Now, I don’t take claims of the supernatural lightly, but, come on, you can’t really expect me to believe that this black speck, Mercury going into retrograde and “Twin Peaks” returning all in the same week are just coincidences. Besides, something about Hoover is awfully mysterious, am I right? All I’m saying is, “Conservative Think Tank” would be a great cover for an alien hideaway.

Be careful at FMOTQ tonight, ladies and gents — Mono isn’t the only thing that’s coming for you…
