Women’s golf wins national title, softball program in shambles

May 28, 2015, 12:49 a.m.

Stanford women’s golf won its first national title on Wednesday, with star junior Mariah Stackhouse clinching the deciding match in a playoff. The fallout from softball coach John Rittman’s controversial resignation in May 2014 has resulted in one of the worst seasons in program history, marred by infighting, the midseason departure of three seniors and questions surrounding athletic director Bernard Muir’s leadership. Stanford will turn its fountains back on for Commencement.
