Men’s basketball hosts Weber State in second home game

Nov. 16, 2016, 6:59 p.m.

Stanford’s men’s basketball (2-0) will host Weber State (1-1) this Thursday at 7 p.m. in its second home game of the season. The Cardinal have won their first two games against Harvard and CSUN. Weber State has also had a strong start to their season, only losing by a single point at Pepperdine last Tuesday.

Junior guard/forward Dorian Pickens (above) has started the regular season in strong form, scoring 24 points over the first two games. That marks the second highest point total on the team, behind junior forward Reid Travis's 43 points. (RAHIM ULLAH/The Stanford Daily)

Although junior forward Reid Travis leads the Cardinal in scoring with 43 points after two games, Stanford has a balanced offense, as four other Stanford players have scored more than 20 points: junior guard/forward Dorian Pickens (24), junior forward Michael Humphrey (22), sophomore guard/forward Marcus Sheffield (22) and senior guard Marcus Allen (20). On the defensive side, Stanford has held its opponents to 38 percent shooting, while forcing 16 opposing turnovers.

This game will be Jerod Haase’s third game as coach of the Stanford team, as he looks to continue the short win streak he has begun as head coach this season.

Stanford will take on Weber State on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
