Eight track and field athletes qualify for NCAA Championships

Eight Stanford track and field athletes qualified for the National Championships after top-12 performances at the NCAA West Preliminaries on Saturday. The National meet will be held at the University of Oregon on June 7 – 10.

Stanford will have seven female athletes representing at Nationals: junior Olivia Baker in the 800, sophomore Mackenzie Little and freshman Jenna Gray in javelin, freshman Christina Aragon and graduate student Rebecca Mehra in the 1,500, junior Lena Giger in the shot put and freshman Fiona O’Keeffe in the 5,000.

Only one male athlete for the Cardinal will be competing in Oregon. Sophomore Grant Fisher, Pac-12 1,500-meter champion, punched his ticket with a win in his 5,000 sections at regionals. Last season as only a freshman, Fisher placed sixth at Nationals in the 5,000.
