Police Blotter: Sexual assault, religious hate crime and resisting arrest

Tuesday, Nov. 14

  • Grand theft of an e-bicycle between 6 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 9 p.m. on Nov. 12 was reported at 450 Jane Stanford Way (Building 380).
  • Vehicle vandalism between 8 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 7 p.m. on Oct. 14 was reported at 560 Wilbur Way (Wilbur Garage).
  • Attempted theft from a vehicle between 8 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 14 was reported at 963 Wing Place.

Wednesday, Nov. 15

  • Grand theft of an e-bicycle between 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 15 was reported at 374 Santa Teresa Street (Roble Hall).
  • Petty theft of a bicycle between 12:05 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. was reported at 450 Jane Stanford Way (Building 120).
  • A hit-and-run collision at an unknown time and date was reported at 1000 Campus Drive.
  • Identity theft at 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 7 was reported at 730 Escondido Road (Mirrielees Highrise).
  • Criminal threats at 7:40 p.m. were reported at 702 Bowdoin Street (Delta Delta Delta).

Bill Larson, SUDPS spokesperson, provided more information on the criminal threats at Delta Delta Delta, stating that the victim’s boyfriend made a physical threat against the victim during an exchange that occurred through social media.

Thursday, Nov. 16

  • Grand theft of a laptop at 12 p.m. on Aug. 14 was reported at 655 Knight Way.
  • Violation of a court order between 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 was reported at 357 Oak Road (Stock Farm restrooms).
  • Grand theft of a bicycle between 4:40 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. was reported at 550 Panama Mall.
  • Sexual assault between 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1 and 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 28 was reported at 566 Arguello Way (Munger Building 1).

According to Larson, a third party reported to a Campus Security Authority (CSA) that an anonymous student had been sexually assaulted twice by a suspect with whom the student had been in a relationship.

Friday, Nov. 17

  • Golf cart theft, commercial burglary and attempted petty theft at 4:10 a.m. was reported at 459 Lagunita Drive (Tresidder Memorial Union).
  • Petty theft of tools between 5 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 17 was reported at 123 Running Farm Lane.
  • Vandalism between 8 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 9 a.m. on Nov. 17 was reported at 291 Campus Drive (Li Ka Shing Center).
  • Vandalism at 9:17 a.m. was reported at 600 Lomita Drive.
  • Petty theft of an extension cord at 10:30 a.m. was reported at 251 Governors Avenue South.
  • Vehicle theft of a golf cart and vandalism between 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 9 a.m. on Nov. 17 were reported at 1018 Campus Drive.
  • Clery vandalism at 11:45 a.m. on Nov. 14 was reported at 720 Serra Street.
  • Petty theft of a license plate between 11:30 a.m. and 1:48 p.m. was reported at 600 Escondido Road.
  • Clery hate speech at 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 16 was reported at 459 Lagunita Drive (White Plaza).

Larson wrote that the reporting party of the clery hate speech in White Plaza identified is of Jewish descent and they reported the suspect to be of Palestinian descent, who used offensive words to describe the reporting party.

Saturday, Nov. 18

  • Vehicle theft of a Honda CR-V between 3 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 was reported at 560 Wilbur Way (Wilbur Garage).
  • Public intoxication at 4:48 p.m. was reported at 625 Nelson Road (Stanford Stadium).
  • An assault and battery with hands at 4 p.m. was reported at 687 Pampas Lane.
  • Theft and recovery of a golf cart between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. was reported at 557 Escondido Mall (Green Library).
  • Robbery at 1:30 p.m. was reported at 1035 Campus Drive (Kappa Sigma).
  • Public intoxication between 6:05 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. was reported at 625 Nelson Road (Stanford Stadium).
  • Public intoxication at 7:04 p.m. was reported at 625 Nelson Road (Stanford Stadium).
  • Assault and battery and vehicle tampering at 7:35 p.m. were reported at 500 Arboretum Road. 
  • Petty theft of a bicycle between 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. was reported at 625 Nelson Road (Stanford Stadium).
  • Grand theft of a parachute at 5:05 p.m. was reported at 573 Arboretum Road (Arboretum Grove).

Sunday, Nov. 19

  • Petty theft of a bicycle between 3 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. was reported at 625 Nelson Road (Stanford Stadium).
  • Battery at 6:15 p.m. was reported at 625 Nelson Road (Stanford Stadium).
  • Public intoxication at 1:36 a.m. was reported at 664 Lomita Court (Kappa Alpha).
  • Auto burglary between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Nov. 18 was reported at 940 Valdez Place.
  • Petty theft of a license plate between 4 p.m. on Nov. 15 and 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 was reported at 560 Wilbur Way (Wilbur Garage).

Monday, Nov. 20

  • Trespassing and resisting arrest between 3 p.m. and 11:55 p.m. was reported at 326 Santa Teresa Street (Lagunita Court/Ujamaa).

According to Larson, a female subject not affiliated with Stanford was arrested and booked into the San Jose Main jail for sleeping in the lounge and laundry room of an undergraduate student residence.

Tuesday, Nov. 21

  • Sexual battery between 12 p.m. on Nov. 18 and 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 19 was reported at 450 Jane Stanford Way.
  • Theft and recovery of a golf cart between 2 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 4:43 p.m. on Nov. 21 was reported at 735 Campus Drive (EVGR B).
  • Theft of an electric skateboard between 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. was reported at 341 Galvez Street (Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation).
  • Theft of an electric scooter between 2:10 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. was reported at 285 Santa Teresa Street (Arrillaga Outdoor Education and Recreation Center).
  • Vandalism and religious hate crime between 10 a.m. on Sep. 27 and 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 21 were reported at 520 Lasuen Mall (Old Union).

As of Dec. 7, there is currently no information regarding the exact date, time, location, or suspect of the reported incident of sexual battery at 450 Jane Stanford Way, according to Larson.

In response to the vandalism and religious hate crime at Old Union, Larson wrote that suspect(s) used a sharp object to poke holes through, scratch and damage an Islamic script painting.

Saturday, Nov. 25

  • Petty theft of a bicycle between 7 a.m. on Nov. 20 and 10 a.m. on Nov. 25 was reported at 251 Governor’s Avenue (Griffin House).
  • Battery causing bodily injury, criminal threats, resisting arrest, resisting arrest causing injury and challenge to fight in a public place at 4:15 p.m. were reported at 625 Nelson Road (Stanford Stadium).
  • Clery stalking between 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 24 and 9 p.m. on Nov. 25 was reported at 736 Escondido Road (Escondido Village Studio 1).
  • Petty theft of earbuds between 1 p.m. on Sep. 20 and 1 p.m. on Sep. 25 was reported at 519 Lasuen Mall (Stanford Bookstore).

The suspect in the battery at Stanford Stadium threatened to fight several attendees at the Stanford vs Notre Dame football game, Larson told The Daily. The suspect punched the victim in the face, causing a visual deformity, and the suspect was arrested. During the arrest, the suspect injured a Deputy who, as a result, required medical attention.

Monday, Nov. 27

  • Institutional burglary between 4 p.m. on Nov. 22 and 6:15 a.m. on Nov. 27 was reported at 890 Escondido Road (Escondido Elementary).
  • Petty theft of a bicycle between 10:30 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. was reported at 450 Jane Stanford Way (Building 260).
