Safety Jimmy Wyrick transfers to UTSA

Stanford football’s junior safety Jimmy Wyrick opted to enter his name into the transfer portal last month and has now transferred to UTSA. Wyrick tallied 31 total tackles, one interception and nine pass deflections in his 16-game career at Stanford.

The former three-star recruit coming out of Texas signed with Stanford in 2021 and displayed potential in his 11 games played as a freshman as Wyrick was named the recipient of the Outstanding Freshman Award.

Injuries, however, have derailed his two seasons since then — Wyrick only appeared in five games during that span. Wyrick will hope to bounce back his senior year with UTSA, which finished third in the AAC standings last season.

With Wyrick’s departure, Stanford relies on sophomore Scotty Edwards and junior Mitch Leigber next season.
