The Stanford men’s basketball program has landed Harvard sophomore forward Chisom Okpara through the transfer portal. Okpara’s commitment comes after Stanford hosted him on a visit a few weeks ago.

As a freshman at Harvard, Okpara immediately flashed his potential, earning Ivy League Rookie of the Week four times. Okpara played in all 28 games of the season with two starts, averaging 7.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. Throughout his freshman campaign, Okpara was an efficient scorer as he ranked second on the team in field goal percentage (.491).

Improving upon his first-year performance, Okpara saw his offensive production skyrocket this past season. In 26 games, Okpara averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He still remained an efficient shooter, shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from the 3-point line.

The addition of Okpara is huge for the program after the offseason losses of Spencer Jones, Andrej Stojakovic, Brandon Angel and Kanaan Carlyle.

With the addition of Okpara, Stanford’s frontcourt is likely to be stout next season with Maxime Raynaud electing to return to the Farm.
