Last Tuesday, junior guard Oziyah Sellers announced his departure from Stanford. Sellers revealed his decision in an Instagram post.

“After many prayers and discussions with those in my circle, I’ve decided to enter the 2025 NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility … to enter the NCAA transfer portal,” the post read.

Sellers, a veteran guard, spent his first two college seasons at the University of Southern California, where he was given minimal playing time, averaging just five and 14 minutes per game, respectively. After transferring to Stanford, however, that number soared to over 33 minutes per game this season. With more opportunity came more production, and Sellers immediately became Stanford’s second leading scorer, averaging 13.7 points.

Three-point shooting was a major factor in Sellers’ scoring surge, as he hit over 40% from beyond the arc while finishing second on the team in made threes — trailing only standout center Maxime Raynaud.

While a return to Stanford remains on the table for Sellers, his departure would see him join fellow veterans Maxime Raynaud, Jaylen Blakes, and Cole Kastner, all of whom have exhausted their eligibility. Two roster spots will be taken up by incoming recruits: four-star international prospect Kristers Skrinda and three-star Ebuka Okorie from Brewster Academy. Coach Kyle Smith will likely turn to the portal to fill all other vacancies.

In their absence, junior Ryan Agarwal and fellow junior Benny Gealer are poised to assume more prominent roles. Agarwal, who logged 27 minutes per game last season, provided 7.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists, while Gealer, averaging 19.7 minutes, added 5.8 points and 1.9 assists.

Freshman guards Anthony Batson Jr. and Ethan Kitch will also vie for increased playing time. Batson appeared in 20 games, averaging five minutes, while Kitch saw limited action but is expected to compete for rotation minutes as he continues to develop.
