Stanford sophomore Aradshar Chaddar died on Saturday after a vehicle struck him while he was riding an electric bike at the intersection of Palm Drive and Arboretum Road.

According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) and a Monday announcement by Vice Provost for Student Affairs Michele Rasmussen, the incident occurred at 2:57 a.m. CHP also reported several police officers reporting to the scene and requested a tow truck for a Honda Accord. According to Rasmussen’s announcement, CHP is currently investigating the circumstances of the collision.

Chaddar was born in Maryland and grew up in Chak Mano, a small village in rural Punjab, Pakistan. He planned to pursue political science and international relations, according to his post on the Stanford Class of 2027 Instagram page.

Chaddar was president of the Stanford Democrats. He was also a member of Stanford’s Pre-Law Society. In his freshman year, he contributed to The Stanford Daily.

“We hold Aradshar’s friends, residential community, professors, and loved ones in our thoughts as they process this very sad news,” Rasmussen wrote. Students on Instagram and Fizz, an anonymous social media platform, expressed an outpouring of love and support for Chaddar and his loved ones.

A memorial to honor Chaddar’s memory will be held today at Terman Fountain at 5 p.m.

This article has been updated to reflect that Chaddar was not a member of the co-ed business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi.
