Spring into Some New Accessories

Spring into Some New AccessoriesWell, hello spring quarter! The days of eternal sunshine, laying out on the lawn and taking a dip in the Claw fountain are finally here! It’s time to forget about how last quarter sunk your GPA and to step into spring looking your best. I know how comfortable winter quarter made it for everyone to throw on a Stanford T-shirt or some extra large Stanford sweatpants (and sometimes both…gross), but spring quarter is not the time to bundle up and stay indoors. It’s time to wear your bright colors, your shorts and mini skirts, and most often–your bathing suit!

But, spring is not just about fun clothing; it’s also about accessorizing! This season especially has some great accessory styles that will liven up any outfit.

Sexy Sandal

Gladiator sandals have been quite the spring/summer staple for quite a few years now. The new gladiator sandals this season are brightly colored and have tribal accents. I also am obsessed with any gladiator sandal that also has a wedge platform–I’m talking about something along the lines of cork or espadrille. Also, the ghillie-tied sandals are a great alternative to gladiators, if you want a new kind of shoe. They look great in light or medium-brown colors, and will look so cute with your new romper. These shoes look wonderful paired with jean or light colored shorts, but can also go really well with a summery mini-dress. Show off those legs and your fashionable pastel-colored toenails!

Statement Jewelry

Big, heavy necklaces are so chic right now, and look great with your basics. Wife-beaters and cotton V-necks have never looked so dressed up. I also love chunky, colorful and ethnic bracelets stacked. This large jewelry works well to make your day outfit into a night outfit in one easy step. Pair a large, colorful necklace with a lightweight silk racerback shirt with a solid colored mini skirt for the perfect day or night outfit. Some shirts have necklaces already attached to the shirts, which takes all the work out of accessorizing. How convenient!

Sunglasses–seeing in bright colors

Ray-Ban Wayfarers and “Fake”-ban Wayfarers (as I like to call them) have always been the sunglasses of choice here on the Farm. They look great on every face shape and they are sold everywhere. When you are going shopping for your spring/summer pair of sunglasses, go bold and pick a bright color. Obviously, don’t pick a color that is going to clash with your entire closet, but please don’t be shy here. Light blues, reds and even yellow are the way to go. I personally love the black glasses with the light blue inside and blue tinted lenses. Please, put away your monotone black shades for a while. Otherwise you will look like you live in a dark cloud while in NorCal paradise!
