Gender Neutral | Following the lead of Stanford, Rutgers and other colleges, several more universities have begun to offer gender-neutral housing. Such changes could herald a move toward a society less concerned with gender, according to several scholars.
Nextdrop Wins | Nextdrop, a system developed by Stanford and Berkeley students that would alert residents of Hubli city in the Indian state of Karnataka when valves controlling the infrequent flow of water are opened, won funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The project is one of 16 that received support from the foundation for “finding innovative ways to find and deliver news in the information age.”
Trail Updates | The town of Portola Valley will be spending $1.5 million dollars to upgrade its hiking trail from its border with the town of Ladera to Arastradero Road. The University will reimburse Portola Valley as part of its general use agreement with Santa Clara County.
