Provost John Etchemendy Ph.D. ’82 and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Harry Elam recognized six faculty members as Bass University Fellows in Undergraduate Education last week at Stanford’s first “Celebration of Undergraduate Education.”

The award recognizes “extraordinary contributions to undergraduate education,” according to the University, and each fellowship is named in honor of a donor to the program.

The faculty who were awarded the fellowships this year are environmental earth system science professor Kevin Arrigo, comparative medicine professor Donna Bouley, history professor James Campbell M.A. ’83 Ph.D. ‘89, Senior Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Martha Cyert, associate professor of chemistry Justin Du Bois and associate professor of computer science Mehran Sahami B.S. ’92 M.S. ’93 Ph.D. ‘99.

The Bass Fellows program launched in 2001 with matching donations from Ann and Robert Bass, MLA ’07 and MBA ’74, respectively.
