Sixteen of the 68 protesters who were arrested after blocking the San Mateo Bridge on Martin Luther King Jr. Day have taken plea deals with the San Mateo County District Attorney, according to Kron 4.

The protesters who took the plea deal pleaded no contest to a charge of obstruction and were sentenced to two years of probation, 30 hours of community service, $440 of restitution to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and a four hour class on the First Amendment that will be taught through Stanford.

Two of the 68 protesters who were arrested have had their charges dropped after they were reportedly found to be journalists.

The protesters who still have charges outstanding against them could face one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Twenty-five protesters will appear in court for a jury trial on May 26, while other protesters will have their cases heard in June and July.
