German Chancellor will visit Campus

April 2, 2010, 1:04 a.m.

Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated the time and date of Chancellor Merkel’s visit as 2:15 p.m. on April 13. The correct time and date is 2:30 p.m. on April 15.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is set to visit Stanford later this month for at least two on-campus events.

Merkel is scheduled to speak on April 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Dinkelspiel Auditorium, University officials said Thursday. The event is free and open to students, faculty and staff, but not the general public. Tickets are set to become available next week.

Merkel will speak in German with translation, and a question-and-answer session will follow her remarks, according to Dan Stober of University Communications.

Following the event at Dinkelspiel, Merkel is scheduled to visit the Volkswagen Automotive Innovation Lab on campus for a dedication ceremony.

She became head of the German government in 2005.
