NASA to Launch Humanoid Robot into Space

NASA, in partnership with GM, has just announced that it will be sending Robonaut2 (R2 for short) along with some astronauts to the International Space Station this September. This humanoid robot will be traveling aboard the Discovery with his human counterparts to make spacewalks for repairs and installations to the ISS. He’s reportedly able manipulate all the same tools that astronauts use and will be able to lift four times more weight than the average astronaut can. He looks more like Iron Man than R2D2, and comes complete with a shiny gold visor. Watch out astronauts!
