We appreciate hearing some students’ perspectives on creative writing in Judy Liu’s Oct. 6 story. For an in-depth explanation of the changes in the Creative Writing Program, please read the Stanford Report story.

Nicholas Jenkins, faculty director of the Creative Writing Program, is meeting with small groups of English majors and creative writing minors and will continue to do so. Other students who have taken creative writing classes can also request a meeting by emailing the program at [email protected].

It is important to keep in mind that departments and programs make decisions about staffing and teaching on a regular basis. Town halls are not held because academic units make personnel decisions with which students or others may disagree.

Debra Satz is the Vernon R. and Lysbeth Warren Anderson Dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences.
