A Spotify playlist for your run

May 9, 2019, 1:00 a.m.

Spring quarter means summer is around the corner. That means now’s the time to get back in shape and maybe even go for a run at the Dish.

“Who runs the Dish? Who has time to?”

Actually, a lot of people walk and/or run the Dish. While most people are from off-campus or live nearby, I occasionally pass by some students who are running and listening to music. That’s when I realized, my Spotify playlist often has the same rotation when I run.

In hopes of inspiring you to get back outdoors, run and clear your mind, I have decided to share it with you.

If you make a right at the fork, this is the playlist for you.

You’re running uphill, but at a much steeper angle, so you’re going to need much more motivation to get past this long upward path.

  1. “Pumped Up Kicks” – Foster the People
  2. “Better Not” – Louis the Child
  3. “It’s Strange” – Louis the Child (ft. K. Flay)
  4. “Wake Me Up” – Avicii

Congrats, you’ve made it to the top of the first hill! Now, keep your pace to jogging speed because the Dish is just up ahead.

  1. “Look Alive” – BlocBoy JB (ft. Drake)
  2. “My Way” – Calvin Harris

You’ve passed the second major hill-ish area. Now, it’s relatively a straight path forward to the Dish. This is my favorite part because this part of the trail doesn’t hurt your feet and it’s nice to look up at the clouds and remind yourself how lucky you are to go to this school.

  1. “Clouds” – BORNS
  2. “Happier” – Marshmellow
  3. “Final Song” – MO

You’ve seen the Dish and now you’re hitting a little dip.

  1. “24/7/365” – Surfaces

We’re going uphill again, both literally and metaphorically.

  1. “Glo Ride” – Hot Flash Heat Wave
  2. “Westworld” – Evan Giia
  3. “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” – Charlie Daniels
  4. “Juice” – Lizzo

It’s all down here from here folks.

  1. “Take Me Home, Country road” – John Denver
  2. “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” – Mike Posner
  3. “Space Jam” – Louis the Child

Your feet are on fire from running downhill and your knees are probably about ready to give out. Now’s the time to finish strong as you run uphill, downhill and back to your dorm.

  1. “Aserje” – Las Ketchup
  2. “Suavemente” – Elvis Crespo
  3. “All Right Now” – Free

Now, go hit the road and run.
